What to match before buying an engine

Carburetor, spark plug and air filter are engine-specific service items

Use the exact engine model/manual for carburetor, ignition and filter parts because the same splitter brand can use different engine families or production revisions. These service parts are better identified through the engine model than through splitter tonnage.

Engine displacement does not predict splitter cycle time by itself

The engine drives the hydraulic pump, but cycle time also depends on pump flow, cylinder volume, valve behavior and return design. A larger-cc engine can support a larger hydraulic package without making the ram automatically faster.

Pump-coupler alignment is part of engine fit
